Library of the Blind of Latvia( hereafter LNerB) is a direct administrative institution under the authority of the Ministry of Culture, which performs dual functions - public and special library. LNerB acts as a center for adapted literature, a cultural and educational place for people who are blind, visually impaired or have other reading difficulties, promoting their social integration in society.
The goal of LNerB's activity is to provide information and services to every library user. Persons who meet the criteria of the first part of Article 22.1 of the Copyright Law are provided with the human right to freely, without restrictions, receive quality information in a customized format - books in audio format, large print and Braille, providing free services in this area. LNerB is a support center for public libraries and educational institutions throughout Latvia in working with the target audience of adapted literature, as well as a consultative center for adapted resources and Braille notation.
